Top Spots In Regina For Socially Distant Picnics

Updated: Oct 2, 2020

Find fun, creative, safe local adventures!

In the spirit of keeping communities safe and healthy, many people are flocking to outdoor activities for the summertime. Picnics, in particular, are the perfect socially-distant activity for friends and family members to come together. With separate blankets, snacks, and a wide-open space—picnics make it easy to socialize while remaining six feet apart.

And the key to a successful summer picnic? Find a vast green space that can accommodate your bubble. Luckily, we've found the best spots in Regina for your afternoon gathering.

WASCANA PARK

Located in the heart of Regina is Wascana Park, spans 2,300 acres and wraps around a beautiful 120-hectare lake. Wascana Park is home to several attractions such as the Royal Saskatchewan Museum, Queen Elizabeth II Gardens, a concert space, several parks, and playground areas, to name a few, that attract international visitors throughout the year. The park serves to conserve and protect the wildlife and ecosystem within it, even featuring a Habitat Conservation Area with a marsh ecosystem.

LAKESHORE PARK

Lakeshore Park, within Wascana Centre, is a charming and scenic location where the sun peeks through the branches of the moderately forested space, offering the best backdrop to a picnic date. You and your friend or family member can enjoy a delicious barbeque using the public charcoal briquette BBQs and picnic tables throughout the park.

Afterwards, take a stroll down a paved or natural path that winds through the park and encircles Wascana Lake.

AE WILSON PARK

This hidden gem boasts no fancy playgrounds or concert stages, but its beauty lies within its simplicity. It's a humble but impressive park with enormous open space, wildlife walks, and natural trails, and all it needs to make it the perfect picnic park. Quiet and serene, you and your social bubble can gather in peace, fly a kite, or frolic freely.

While this year—this summer, may not have turned out as expected, you can still make the most of each sunny day. We at Home Inn & Suites Regina Airport, wish you a safe summer full of positivity, picnics, and BBQs! Get outside and enjoy a socially-distant way to stay together while apart.
